Curriculum Support

The CEAD regularly brings enhanced opportunities into the classrooms which add value to curriculum. Whether it’s guest speakers, topical workshops, external site visits or creating access for students to an event, we have collaborated with faculty across OCAD U to offer meaningful support.

Professional Practice curriculum

The CEAD provides funding support and in-class professional development programming to enhance OCAD U’s Professional Practice curriculum across design, art and liberal arts & sciences. With career-related skills development being the focus, supports are tailored to the relevant needs of each course; building upon the specific learning objectives and developed in collaboration with faculty.

Cultural Community Expo

The Cultural Community Expo takes a unique form each year, including off-campus tours, moderated panel discussions, studio visits, and artist talks. Held annually in February, the event is centred around the Faculty of Art's Cross-Disciplinary Art Practice: Professional Practice course (CROS: 3001).

Creative Professionals-In-Residence

The Creative Professionals-In-Residence program is a mentorship initiative created to support the career success of current OCAD U students and recent alumni. The program sees invited professional guests, from a variety of art and design-related disciplines, present on a regularly scheduled basis over the course of the academic semester. Students can schedule meetings with current residents to conduct portfolio reviews, career advising, informational conversations, and on-campus studio visits.

We welcome opportunities to connect the residents with your classes and curriculum, depending on availability.

Student Career Ambassadors

Student Career Ambassadors are senior students in their final year. They support the success of their peers by assisting the Career Development office in delivering valuable services, improving resources and connecting their fellow students with paid creative opportunities and professional development activities. They are discipline-specific and a student’s peer connection to the Career Development office. A Student Career Ambassador might be present in your classroom.
